Our story

Thorium was founded in 2014 by Frederick Carle. After finding himself being totally dissatisfied with the state of data acquisition solutions, all being expensive and not flexible enough, Fred decided to combine efficient software design with open source embedded devices to come up with cost effective data acquisition systems catered toward solar energy producers.

Over the years, Thorium built a reputation with its clients for being a solid software company, with strong ethics, that people can trust. We are very proud of this and we plan to continue on the same path for as long as the company exists.

Most recently, Thorium developed an expertise in energy control and optimization for electric grids and microgrids. Thorium is one of the first company in the world to implement the IEEE 2030.5 standard for both client and server devices on the electric grid.
